Confessions Of A Newbie Blogger

Mother's Begonia

Mother's Begonia

After several days of trying to learn how to set up a blog, I’ve finally figured out the basics and got something going. My list of bookmarks was already probably long enough to reach from here to eternity but it looks like I’ll be adding more bookmarks related to blogging too so I can fine tune things. Sigh….

(Note to self – purge older, seldom used bookmarks and do some PC housekeeping for goodness sakes!)

  1. Hello Sara,

Thanks for stopping by. I know what you mean about the learning, etc. I spent 3 days looking over Goggle’s Blogger and didn’t feel that was user friendly enough nor offered enough choices without digging into the hacking thing. WordPress’ interface seemed more user friendly. Though I’m sure it has to do with getting use to it over a period of time.

  2. Hi Deb:

Just wanted to check out your new blog. It is looking great, and I think you have a terrific beginning! I know what you mean about all the learning and CSS, tutorials, hacks, etc., etc….blah, blah. Sheesh — there just is not enough time in the rest of our lives to learn all there is to learn to stay on top of things. I don’t know how people do it who have blogs of their own and post on so many others. Apparently their days have more hours in them than mine do! Or else they don’t have yardwork, housework, job, kids, dogs, husbands ?? Dunno. As it is, I feel like the computer eats up half of my life.

Well, Blog On, new blogger πŸ™‚ We’ll keep up with your progress.

  3. Teresa,

I would like to know how to move a lot of the widgets to the top or bottom of the header image so they look like tabs, instead of having them displayed down the side. Also would like to widen the posting area. But I suspect I would have to know how to use CSS or something. I don’t even know what CSS is and have only fiddled a bit with HTML.

    Thanks for posting.

  4. Welcome to the world of blogging! WordPress is easy-peasy to work (most of the time!) so it should be smooth sailing.

Thanks so much for stopping by my neglected blog. It was just what I needed to get back in the swing!

    Love the begonia. Beautiful.

I should change my title to Confessions of a newbie photographer…..

    Maybe we can swap tutorials?
